New Year's Resolutions

Last Modified:

Here are some of my new year's resolutions for the year of 2019.

Finish the UnTech Engine

This is the main resolution, I want to finish the untech-engine and untech-editor by mid-year 2019. This is not to say I'll have a full game finished by then, just the core engine.

I'm not even sure I'll meet this imaginary deadline. Previous estimates for the completed parts of the engine have been off by weeks or months, most of which was due to motivational issues. On a more positive note, I'm in a much better head-space then I was at the start of last year and my productivity has dramatically improved, so the goal is possible.

Document my knowledge of SNES Development

I've been meaning to document my knowledge of Super Nintendo development for a while, but never found the time to do so. I'm aiming to write something every two or three days, documenting a register once a week and eventually compilate a decent reference for others (and myself) to use.

Today I found the motivation to write up a page about the 65816 Opcodes, which includes a few tidbits which are non-obvious about 65816 assembly.

In the likely event my website disappears I've created a github repo for my snesdev pages as a backup.

Learn rust

Lastly, I want to learn the programming language rust. My reasoning is mostly because it looks interesting and has very little to do with SNESdev.

Closing Thoughts

I don't have any words to describe 2018, other to say I'm currently in a much better place mentally and physically then I was in January 2018. Here's to hoping that my motivation and my life continue to improve throughout 2019.
